Gertrude Stein Takes the English Faculty Minutes

Kenneth Pobo

We met on October 17, 2005. We met. On October.
17. Yes, it was THE 17th. I had roast chicken
for dinner. We approved. The minutes of our
September 26, 2005, meeting. All in favor
Say I. Eye. I tried to be approved. For
a credit card. No, I didn’t. Even Alice knows that.
But the minutes are approved. The cat is on the porch.
The spiderwort’s approving of the toad lily.
And vice-versa. But are the minutes truly approved?
Are you lonely, sad minutes, looking for
lost hours? So moved. The motion carries.
All that motion. Commotion. Cum motion.
We met. Yes, it was on October 17. I have
a notion we will meet again. Let’s meet. Again.
A motion to adjourn. To your bed.
