a monk mute in a cave. Few

call them mad. They get canonized.
I got hospitalized,

heard jokes about women—
how we can’t stop blabbing.

I stopped.
Doctors gave shots. Therapy.

I’m speaking. “Healed.”
My son never calls.

Kenneth Pobo grew up in Villa Park, Illinois.  He now lives near Philadelphia, PA, and teaches at Widener University.
